The Resource Center of the Americas is a non-governmental, 501 (c)(3) organization that informs, educates and organizes to promote human rights, economic justice, democratic participation, and cross cultural understanding in the context of globalization in the Americas.
The website was built in 24 hours during the F1 Web Challenge competition, using the Ruby on Rails framework. The F1 Web Challenge provides a unique opportunity for a team of 8-10 professionals to help a non-profit organization with their Website needs.
Resource Center of the Americas has only two employees, so you can imagine the daunting task of working with the community, along with keeping their current Website up to date with various educational classes, events, etc. Kadlac participated in the event as the Lead Designer, and also helped with some of the client-side code. Our team consisted of 10 individuals, all working together on many different areas of the site to pull this together. Many thanks go out to the members of the Ruby.MN team, who helped build a great site, and CMS that allows RCOTA to maintain and update their site with ease.
