









Originally, the Minneapolis Hot Dog Eating Contest started as a competition between friends. It soon developed into a social networking experiment consisting of an integrated marketing effort using various avenues including Facebook, Twitter, video, and blogging. A website was designed and built by Kadlac using Wordpress, and video was shot of several contestants to further the growing popularity.
The contest was promoted by local newspaper publications such as the Star Tribune, Vita.mn, City Pages, and other various blogs. The video shot by WCCO traveled around the country, and even made an appearing on the BBC.
